- Use a good working USB cable wire,
- A computer laptop runs in Windows OS, this will not work on MAC, Samsung and Apple are not friends.
- Disable Kies and any open programs that might interrupt the process.

Step 1: Install the USB driver and Extract the downloaded I9300XXDLJ4 stock ROM

Odin can't read the file if not extracted, so you need to “unzipped” it first, so that you’ll get the .tar.md5 binary file.

Step 2: Run and configure Odin

Just right-click Odin3_v3.07.exe and run as administrator, then configure its settings:
DO NOT Check This!!!!! “RE-PARTITION”
check these boxes “AUTO-REBOOT” and “F-RESET TIME”

Step 3: Load the binary file on PDA button

Click on the PDA button then browse to the folder where you extracted the stock ROM then select and load it.

Step 4: Reboot the phone in download mode

To reboot the Galaxy S3 into  download mode , you need to turn the power off.  After it completely shut down,  just  press and hold the Volume Down key,  Home button and the Power ON/OFF button simultaneously.

You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you  to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”

Step 5: Connect the phone to PC

When the phone is in the Download Mode screen, connect it to the computer using the USB cable, you should see an ID:COM port number and it turn to a blue color – as an indication that the phone is already recognized by Odin. Also a word “Added” on Odin’s log box”

Step 6: Hit the “START’ button

Once all properly set and ready to flash, just hit the “START” button below odin’s window.

Step 7: Wait for a word “PASS’

At the end of the flashing process, a word “PASS” will display and this means that the installation is already finishes.
Juts wait until the phone, completely normally reboots, then remove it from PC connection.

You may then confirm the newly installed Jelly Bean from your Samsung Galaxy S3:

  1. Has anyone else noticed that the NFC icon isn't displaying on this build??

  2. Thanks for a very clear and concise article. I downloaded the update initialy via Kies but found that when I tried to enter Settings/more settings I got "unfortunately, Settings has stopped" So I tried it again via Odin with your method and got the same problem. Anybody any ideas please?

  3. Did you perform factory data reset? try to wipe, but back up all important files first before doing it.

  4. Thanks for your input and you were quite correct. A factory reset did it. However when I reinstalled all my applications from a back up it happened again. Another reset and individually installing the applications sorted it. Thanks again.

  5. Whoops. The problem turned out to be, having backed up with Backup Pro.before the upgrade. I restored everything after the upgrade. Own goal. Shouldn't have let it restore settings. You live and learn. I hope this helps somebody else.

  6. is anyones kies not connecting to phone after installing this via odin?

  7. You need to update Kies from time to time. Kies work on ICS and probably will not work on JB for now, until Kies gets a new update too.

  8. how long does it take to reboot ? its been more than 30 min and it doesnt change from the "samsung" logo ... please help

  9. Pedro, did it eventually reboot?

  10. installed this build (UK Download), everything seemed to go completely fine, keeping all my data.
    One exception...
when I try to access wifi hotspot settings through: Settings > Wireless and networks > More settings.
the screen goes blank for a few seconds followed by a message "unfortunately settings has stopped" sending me back to the home screen.
    anybody got any clues?

  11. Did you do some steps before installation:
sync and back-up all files, then perform factory reset.
Did you reconfigure APN settings, after installation.

  12. I backed up all data just in case, but didn't perform a factory reset as it wasn't required. my APN details must have transferred through correctly asI still can get a mobile data connection. the issue is that I can't change or even view those settings, or those to set up hotspot tethering due to the crash whenever I select "more settings"

  13. Fixed now, factory reset did it, over an hour reinstalling everything and getting it all set up again though.

  14. will this upgrade file work for my SGH-i747? it is an unlocked AT&T phone!

  15. No, don't try it, You will ended up into soft-bricks, its a different Galaxy S3 variant for United States. This build is for International versions only.

  16. can i use this for s plus i9001 if nt then please send me the firmware of i 9001

  17. I flashed this ROM but the update checker says that there are no new updates available ...what's the deal??? There's the 4.1.2 ROM out for months already

  18. It's easy, grab the 4.1.2 and flash it.
