How to Update my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and get this ICS upgrade?
This update probably will be only rolled out via OTA (Over the Air) since this is a carrier specific firmware build. So, just check your Galaxy Tab settings and check for software update, also check it out on Kies too, or you may ask your friendly neighborhood customer support representatives on each specific network operator.
To those advance users who already modified their tablets with any unofficial firmware and or rooted and most probably can't get this update via OTA or KIES. But here's original ICS stock ROM. Again, this is the official firmware, you will lose root, any installed custom recoveries after the installation, but you can still root it back again.
Note: these stock ROMs are not to be used on other Galaxy Tab 8.9 variants like P7300, P7310, P7320 and E140S . It may only compatible on U.S. SGH-I957. You will messed up your tablet if you'll play around these firmwares, unless you are a custom firmware developer.

- Make sure the tablet's battery is fully charge
- Back all files (nandroid backup)
- Use Windows OS PC/laptop, MAC will not work.
- Prepare a good USB cable

If you successfully upgraded from OTA, Kies or Odin, just let everyone knows how this ICS update performs on your tablet.
I haven't played with it a lot yet but it appears that at least the Bell firmware update works. I used the Bell firmware attached here to restore my tablet using Odin as my first attempt to update from inside Android failed and left me stuck at the CDW recovery console.
ReplyDeleteCant root the new ics on the bell lte 8.9 tab. any idea where to look for a new root kernel? Da_G's for gingerbread doesnt work
ReplyDeleteHow did you get it to work? How did you get past the CDW recovery console? I did it with Odin and this Bell Firmware here as well and it just flashed the Galaxy Tab 8.9 lte screen and then screen stays black. Have to put Tab back into Odin mode power vol up.
