Users should check it out via Kies, and get your Galaxy S3 fully updated now. For those who can't get it from Kies like if your Galaxy S3 now already runs with rooted or unofficial firmware or you are outside from your home country India and living anywhere around the world, you can still get this update by using original stock ROM. Just follow our detailed guide on the next page.
Odin flashing procedure I9300XXDLJ5 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Firmware
This is a manual upgrading using the I9300XXDLJ4 stock ROM, this is the same firmware released by Samsung via Kies or OTA, but just being pulled from Samsung server so that advance users and 3rd-party developers can use it and or give it a try.
Disclaimer: Proceed at your own risk! We shall not be held responsible if something happens on your device by using this guide.
Grab Odin flasher Odin3_v3.07 link and USB driver.
Grab the Jelly Bean stock ROM:
GT-I9300 INS - INS_I9300XXDLJ5_I9300ODDDLI7
GT-I9300 INU - INU_I9300XXDLJ5_I9300ODDDLI7
- Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Stock Firmware
Prepare things as follows:
- Fully re-charge your phone’s battery.
- Back up all important files store from your phone’s internal memory. although this will not wipe the data after installation.
- Use a good working USB cable wire,
- A computer laptop runs in Windows OS, this will not work on MAC, Samsung and Apple are not friends.
- Disable Kies and any open programs that might interrupt the process.
Step 1: Install the USB driver and Extract the downloaded I9300XXDLJ5 stock ROM
Odin can’t read the file if not extracted, so you need to “unzipped” it first, so that you’ll get the .tar.md5 binary file.
Step 2: Run and configure Odin
Just right-click Odin3_v3.07.exe and run as administrator, then configure its settings:
DO NOT Check This!!!!! “RE-PARTITION”
check these boxes “AUTO-REBOOT” and “F-RESET TIME”
Step 3: Load the binary file on PDA button
Click on the PDA button then browse to the folder where you extracted the stock ROM then select and load it.
I9300XXDLJ5_I9300ODDDLI7_I9300DDDLJ1_HOME.tar.md5
Odin should look exactly like this:
Step 4: Reboot the phone in download mode
To reboot the Galaxy S3 into download mode , you need to turn the power off. After it completely shut down, just press and hold the Volume Down key, Home button and the Power ON/OFF button simultaneously.
You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”
Step 5: Connect the phone to PC
When the phone is in the Download Mode screen, connect it to the computer using the USB cable, you should see an ID:COM port number and it turn to a blue color – as an indication that the phone is already recognized by Odin. Also a word “Added” on Odin’s log box”
Step 6: Hit the “START’ button
Once all properly set and ready to flash, just hit the “START” button below odin’s window.
Step 7: Wait for a word “PASS’
At the end of the flashing process, a word “PASS” will display and this means that the installation is already finishes.
Juts wait until the phone, completely normally reboots, then remove it from PC connection.
You may then confirm the newly installed Jelly Bean from your Samsung Galaxy S3:
About>Settings> Firmware info or type *#1234# and see if it’s already I9300XXDLJ4 firmware build.
If you already got this update just share it to us your impressions on how does firmware works like performance and any other issues you may encounter.
I have bought my S3 from india, but now i am in Sri Lanka Earlier upgraded my S3 via OTA..but this time i couldnt find the the update it says "no updates" & KIES says "Latest Firmware Running" Can;t i get jellybean update officially.. Please help me friends
ReplyDeleteFriendzz...if i have to download this one which one i have to download INU/INS ???
ReplyDeleteIt depends of your Galaxy S3 product code.. INU is most prepared. :)
ReplyDeleteYup! you can’t get the update if you’re outside India. Grab the stock ROM XXDLJ5 INU and follow the guide on the second page, it’s the same firmware as is like you upgrade thru Kies or OTA.
ReplyDeleteHi Droid Angel,
ReplyDeletecan u explain me the real difference between INU and INS version?
I have GT-I9300 Model and Present firmware version is I9300XXDLJ4, issue with this version is poor battery backup compared to ICS. I want to go for *****J5 version.
am i going to see any improvement over the *****J4 in latest version?
I was eagerly waiting for Indian version. grateful to u for the link and advice.
Many Thanks to you
Is update available for this also..
ReplyDeleteAP: I9300XXBLH1
CP: I9300DDLH1
CSC: I9300ODDBLG2
This is the same update goes to that build.. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and nearby countries. Just wait for it thru Kies.
ReplyDeleteRaju, I am not from India but I have a lot of friends there. It's only a definition of CSC's (consumer specification codes). The 'INU' is the default for unbranded Samsung android devices release in India either S2, note, tablets etc. while "INS" I have no idea, but seems like a branded one but I don't know which particular network operator.
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter that my product code is different? GT-I9300MBDINU
ReplyDeleteCan I still snag the Rom and manually upgrade?
Yes you can.. this ROM is an official build.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your reply! I think the two different alphabets in the product code denote the phone colour, RW meaning white, MB meaning blue. I'm going to wait through the weekend for the OTA update, if it doesn't show, I'll go with this one on Monday. Though I think it's pretty silly that Samsung releases OTA updates only to a few devices at a time in a specific country. Thanks for your time and efforts!
ReplyDeleteLook for the model number on the label of your phone box. The last three characters will be INU or INS. I would stick with the version mentioned on the product code of your phone.
ReplyDeleteYup that's how to check the CSC codes.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, it's nothin'. Just keep on visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteKIES / OTA doesnot show any update for my Galaxy S3 smartphone. Its GT-i9300 (INS) with PDA:LH1 / Phone:LH1 / CSC:LG2(INS). Are you sure updates are available right now ?
ReplyDeleteMy CSC is not included in package; is there any way to update just ROM and modem, as I'm on XXDLJ4 ITV...
ReplyDeleteThis is Eurasia build ROM. Try XXJL4 Europe builds. http://androidromupdate.com/2012/10/24/upgrade-uk-samsung-galaxy-s3-jelly-bean-i9300xxdlj4/
ReplyDeleteHi i just want to know that if i update through this firmware then in the future if there are any more updates will i always have to flash it through Odin? Or can i do it OTA or through Kies?
ReplyDeleteYes, as long as you are in India and your device has the INU or INS default CSC's.

Is update available for this also or how to update this phone with original software in India.
Will it void my warranty if I manually install it?
ReplyDeleteGuys really need help on this
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell me that in case i did this manually so will it void my warranty or will it be the official jellybean for my device released by Samsung or I should go with kies. My friend recommended this website since he is already running cynagonmod rom so he has no idea on this.
Please help me out
thank you in advance
No warranty void since this is the official stock firmware same as on Kies and OTA. This is unrooted, unmodified, untouched and etc.. This WILL NOT TRIP the binary flash counter of your Galaxy S3 that leads you to screw up the warranty.
ReplyDeleteOne last thing will I be able to download update via kies or ota or I have to always flash new rom and do it manually
ReplyDeleteGuys go on and download it. I have just done it and now I am running official jb on my s3. Great work DroidAngel
ReplyDeleteJust did the install and got the version as below:
ReplyDeleteAP-XXDLJ5
CP-DDDLJ1
CSC-DDDLI7
Many thanks to Droidangel
I lost the box and i'm on CM9, how do i know which one to flash ? INU or INS?
ReplyDeleteCheck the code behind the battery. You will see the last three digits represent your device default CSC code.
ReplyDeleteINU=India unbranded/unlocked
ReplyDeleteINS= India service
Since only unlocked version of s3 is available in India so we have to flash INU by default with no exception!!
hi, juss now upgrading my s3 to jelly bean using above method.. thanks a lot for posting it.
ReplyDeleteBut I have one doubt.. can we upgrade s3 through kies or OTA in future or need to follow this method again
Hi Droid Angel,

It must be a problem from your computer or network connection.
ReplyDeleteHi! I have an Orange (France) GT-I9300 Model in India and my carrier is Vodafone (India). My Kies says Current Firmware is the Latest Firmware: PDA:LH2 / Phone:LH1 / CSC:LH2 (FTM)
ReplyDeleteBaseband Version: I9300BVLH1
Build Version: GT-I9300 ModelI9300BVBLH2
Am not getting the JB update, neither do i have the "Software Update" button under "About Device".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks much!
Then you must manually install Orange France JB update but its not release yet. If its unlocked, you can also install this firmware.
ReplyDeleteHi DroidAngel...you seem a pro at fixing this. Good job!!! I am in India and I was gifted a Samsung Galaxy S3 from Oman. The AP, CP and CSC are as follows: I9300XXBLH1, I9300XXLH1, I9300OJVBLH1. It runs Android 4.0.4. I am not getting OTA updates not Kies update for Android Jelly Bean whereas many in India claim to have got it. How do I get mine updated? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteSince you are in India right now then flash the INU_XXDLJ5.. It doesn't matter and that works well. Just make a note of the current APN settings.. then re-configure it again after flashing to avoid network data connection issues.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much droidangel. How do I do the apn part you have suggested? Bit of newbie to android. :).

I recently bought Samsung Galaxy S3 from Oman. I am living in Oman. When I tried to update my software its showing that no updates are available and right now my software in 4.0.4 so I want jelly bean. So how can I update? I tried from kies also.
ReplyDeleteJust wait until Samsung release a Jelly Bean in Oman.. releasing of updates is in phase - varies country to country and not simultaneously throughout the world in single period of time.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm a new android user and need some suggestions from the experts. I live in Bangladesh and bought my S3 directly from samsung, it's unlocked and under warranty.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I'm using Android 4.0.4 with baseband I9300DDLH1. Since I bought it I was never prompt for an update (through Kies/OTA) so I googled and found out that updates are still pending in Bangladesh. I was wondering if I can update my device using ODIN by manually downloading the firmware. And if I can:
- Will it void my warranty ?
- Will it totally secure my device from "Sudden death" ?
- Are there any risk in updating the firmware manually ?
- Should I risk it (keeping in mind the "Sudden death" issue) ?
If I wait for the regular update through Kies/OTA:
- Approximately, how long it may take ?
- If the wait is long, what are the chances that my device dies out of "Sudden death" ?
- Any advice/precaution (other than updating the firmware) to prevent "Sudden death" ?
- Finally, If the device dies, can it be repaired ?
Thanks in advance.
I have bought my S3 from India & updated from ICS to JB 4.1.1, but now i am in bangaldesh. so it's possible to update JB 4.1.2 or not.
