Install Stock OTA L720VPUFNAE 4.4.2 KitKat Galaxy S4 L720 (Sprint)

Sprint Galaxy S4 (L720) official Android 4.3 update build L720VPUEMK2 stock firmware is now available for those who have had root, custom ROM and recovery and wants to return back their Galaxy S4 to complete stock or official firmware. The 4.4.2 L720VPUFNAE build now bundled with Zact Mobile compatibility and the prevention pop-up removal and my also included several fixes and enhancements from the previous 4.3 L720VPUEMK2. This firmware update was rolled out on February 13, 2014 before the Valentines Day celebration.

The stock firmware below is only for those who did not get this update through ‘OTA’ over-the-air or even Kies and had faced issues like “Software Update Failed” or “This device is not supported with kies” and any similar errors.  So again, if you want to have the 4.4.2 KitKat update installed on your Galaxy S4 just simply grab the 4.4.2 L720VPUFNAE  stock firmware below, for this is your other last resort.   One more thing, the 4.4.2 update now equipped with a secured bootloader which similarly found on 4.3 updates, some circumstances is that you cannot revert back to the older software update version, for this breaks the bootloader image once gets re-written. So make sure to be aware with that if you are planning to install any ROMs that still based on 4.3 , or 4.2.2. If you are also rooted then you’ll lose root once the 4.4.2  installation has made, that’s because official firmwares wipes-out any modification you have installed in your device.

Q: Will I lose root once using this method?
A: Yes, this will restore your device into official firmware.
Q: Can I install root again once upgraded to this version?
A: Yes, this firmware build can be rooted, but be aware about the new KNOX security platform hidden inside the system that  completely voids the warranty of your device once gets tripped by means of rooting or installing any custom recovery. This sets “KNOX warranty Void: 0×1 from 0×0″ (You can see this when you set your device in download mode). This cannot be reset by any hacking method except by Samsung service personnel using a special reset tool of-course.

  1. I updated my sprint s4 to 4.4.2 when it was rooted. Its all messed up now! Can someone please help me? I got the 4.3 softwear back on my phone, but now I have everything on my phone for the 4.4.2 but the rite baseband? And have no recovery. Get an error when i try to update the firmwear and when i try to factory reset it. Please help

  2. Even the softwear version is for the 4.3?

  3. Okay what of I am running rooted stock mk2 with a custom recovery? How to I install this update?

  4. Do not try to install without runing pure 4.3 firmware on your phone. It would mess up your phone and make your phone useless. My phone was rooted. I just installed it after factory reset. All of functions are fine though, I cannot get wifi connection. Samsung knox has kept blocking wifi connection. Knox notification has kept saying "your phone's security has blocked an action~~~". So I did factory reset again. Still wifi connection has not been working yet with same error message. I am trying to figure it out. Omg.

  5. Same to me! I did factory reset rooted my phone and then installed it. My phone's android version is 4.4.2 though, Baseband version is L720VPUEMK2 ( android 4.3 version). Also, device statue indicates "Custom". Other things are fine but phone cannot activate wifi. Somebody can help me?

  6. No Wi-Fi problem here, I was rooted so I flashed the full stock NAE full firmware in Odin and no WiFi issues so far. It worked!

  7. Your baseband version stayed on 4.3 MK2?, that's basically the big reason why you are in trouble with Wi-Fi connection. Try to flash the Odin firmware version instead of the OTA update package and see if your baseband changes to NAE.

  8. Okay, my GF phone now runs on Android 4.3 and it says baseband version is L720VPUEMK2, but I am completely have no idea if it was rooted or not. It's just very frustrating that hour after hour waiting to get the update but when I tried to OTA it just damn stuck or something and I only get 'software update fail'. Tried Kies too, but it says my phone is not supported or modified. So I guess this was rooted, now which one do I need to install the OTA firmware or the Odin stock firmware?

  9. Okay, my GF phone now runs on Android 4.3 and it says baseband version is L720VPUEMK2, but I am completely have no idea if it was rooted or not. Tried Kies too, but it says my phone is not supported or modified.

Try to see if there is an icon named SuperSU in your apps drawer, you might be running a root injected 4.3 L720VPUEMK2 and or installed with a custom recovery. You may also check if your warranty bit has been tripped - to locate this just reboot your phone into download mode (Press and hold the Volume Down, HOME and Power ON button at the same time), then see the line that says KNOX "warranty bit" or check the software version if it's custom or official. If you read something that says warranty bit: 1", then we must say that your phone has been modified and or rooted.

So I guess this mine is rooted, now which one do I need to install the OTA firmware or the Odin stock firmware?
The convenient way is to use the full stock firmware like what (Redfox) did, Why? Because it completely rewrites and wipes any customization from your phone and you'll get a clean start all over again.

  10. I'm wondering how I can get this update.
I would like the full stock NAE with root and CWM recovery. How can I do this? I am running currently:
    Sprint GS4
    CM 11 nightly
    CWM recovery
Baseband version: L720VPUFNAE (I flashed the modem only)

  11. How did you get it back to 4.3? can you please link me the guide you used and or download files

  12. Have you figured this out yet? I'm in the same situation and keep getting boot loop when downgrading. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
