Install N9005XXUGBOA5 Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Official 5.0 Lollipop Update Firmware

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 (Snapdragon) official Android 5.0 Lollipop update has finally arrived. The N9005XXUGBOA5 is the first official firmware build which initially rolled out to unbranded Galaxy Note 3 N9005 users in Poland, while the rest are for the carrier branded Note 3 devices like Swisscom in Switzerland, Vodafone in United Kingdom, Germany and select countries in Europe.

In addition, this is the first stage of the awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update, Samsung eventually released it in phases and accordingly in countries and network providers they choose. Therefore, not everyone can get an update at the same time. But for those advanced users out there from the other parts of the world where the update has not yet been seen you can try it now using the stock ROM N9005XXUGBOA5 itself. This will officially upgrade your Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 right now without waiting to appear it via OTA and Kies.

Since the N9005XXUGBOA5 firmware is still fresh we cannot surely tell if its stable or not. So expect some minor glitches once you have decided to accept and installs the latter. We knew that the Android 5.0 Lollipop is riddled with some issues, and maybe some of you might expect the Android 5.0.1 version which is far more stable if we compare the two.

Build details of N9005XXUGBOA5:

You can use the manual method instead if the device will no longer receive any official update via Kies or OTA update. So it is much better to manually install it or otherwise you device may stuck on outdated firmware build.

Make sure that your Galaxy Note 3 battery is fully charge.
Stock Firmware packages comes in two formats the ‘Full-Wipe’ (delete your stored data after flashing) and the ‘Non-Wipe’ (it doesn’t delete your phone’s stored data) but it is highly recommended to make a back up all important files stored from your phone’s internal memory – contacts, messages, etc. before flashing no-matter if it is Full-Wipe or Non-Wipe, just to be safe and ensure that your stored data are in safe if something went wrong during the flashing process.
Use a PC or laptop that runs in Windows OS, with a good and perfectly working USB serial port. Odin will not work on MAC OS.
Use the supplied USB cable for your Galaxy Note 3.
Enable USB debugging from your phone’s settings – Go to Settings>About Phone> then scroll down to the build number and tap that number for around 7-times ’til the Developer option appear.
TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock – juts tap on Settings>>Security>>Reactivation Lock and then unchecked the Turn Reactivation lock on.
Ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies and Odin are both created by Samsung but Kies will interrupt and doesn’t like Odin, it will block you from flashing.

However, the Android 5.0 Lollipop still comes with a  protected bootloader that might cause issues when you try to install any unofficial or unsigned firmware builds. The Android 5.0 Lollipop can be downgraded to Android 4.4.4 and 4.4.2 KitKat but this isn't confirmed as 100% safe.

Download the N9005XXUGBOA5 5.0 Lollipop Stock ROM/Firmware

Note: These stock ROMs are both unbranded and carrier branded stock firmware packages. If you install the unbranded ones it on a branded or carrier locked Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005), you’ll lose the default logo and apps of that said network operator. While installing the unbranded  ones over a carrier devices it will just de-brand it and you'll lose some important apps on that particular network provider.

Possible errors that you may encountered, this is based on my own experience while flashing stock firmware on Samsung Android devices. These are just a few hints on how to resolved it.

Q: I got an error message that says “Set-up connection Failed” ?
A: 1. Check your USB connection from the phone to PC,
2. Connect to another PC USB port
3. Check and or try to another USB cable
4. Re-install the USB driver.
Q: Odin just suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere while in flashing progress, it isn’t responding at all?
A: Check for possible program that might interrupt the process, like disabling the anti-virus and closing any running programs. Also try to use another computer or laptop,
Q: I experienced bootloop or the phone just stuck on Welcome Logo (phone always stop at bootanimation) and it won’t boot normally?
A: This is eventually happens if your device came from custom firmware but you can fix it via recovery mode option, do this:
Boot in recovery mode
1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button.
2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option
3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button.
4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition
5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Galaxy Note 3 in Normal mode.

That’s it! Just let us know if you have issues upon flashing the stock N9005XXUGBOA1 5.0 Lollipop.

  1. What is the device is stucked in download mode? Odin shows that size is too long. any adavices ?

  2. Your device might not be a NOTE 3 SM-N9005, check the model number again. Or it might be but runs on other regional firmware build series like the ones starts with N9005DX N9005ZH/ZT N9005VJwhich could not cope up with the update file size. Try to perform 'wipe data cache' first before flashing again, but don't forget to back-up your stored data.
If it doesn't worked out, just wait for a much lighter firmware builds like those ones released in United Kingdom and Germany.

  3. My phone is on EE in uk and updated to lollipop over the weekend to the following version:

    Model No: SM-N9005
    Android version: 5.0
    Baseband version: N9005XXUGBOA1
    Kernel version: 3.4.0-3643614
    Build number: LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOA5

Since the update my Bluetooth isn't working correctly and calls get dropped for no reason. The Bluetooth problem is when I connect to my car it doesn't always connect or drops the connection without warning. I have deleted the pairings and re-paired them and it still does it. Is there going to be an update to fix this as I spend a lot of time in my car and need it to work like it used to on kitkat?

  4. The download links don't work. Please post the roms on a different file host as well.

  5. after flashed wt odin, my n9005 is now updated to lollipop. But my air command doesn t seems to launch. Go over air command and s pen setting many times. Any thoughts?

  6. Update all apps as possible as to per Lollipop compatibility.
